This charming video was produced by Awesome Arts en folie. It tells the story of the late René Chartrand, a Lowertown resident who was known as the Catman of Parliament Hill. Note: French narration, no sub-titles.
This animation was told and recorded by a group of francophone seniors who participated in the 2015 Awesome Arts en folie program in Lowertown. The storytelling program was led by Marie-Thé Morin of Vox Théâtre and the animation was created by a group of anglophone children of Lowertown who were led by Tina Le Moine and her intern Alia Khan and volunteer Janine Lameiras.
The program was funded by Canadian Heritage and the City of Ottawa Youth Internship Progam, offered in partnership with the Lowertown Community Resource Centre and the Centre de services Guigues. The video was screened at the March 27, 2015 Awesome Arts en folie Festival.
