Lowertown residents living near MacDonald Gardens and Bordeleau Parks participated in the Cleanup the Capital initiative last weekend.
At Bordeleau Park: Over 50 volunteers of all ages showed up to help pickup winter debris and cleanup the kids playground and soccer field. Pizza and coffee was had courtesy of Sandra Milton and a big thanks to everyone who showed up. At MacDonald Gardens Park: Macdonald Garden's Park clean up happened on Saturday, April 29. Twenty volunteers swept the stairs, raked the leaves, and walked the perimeter finding lost and left belongings that had collected over the winter as well as general refuse. The youngest participant was Ben, age 4. The most unusual find was a trundle bed frame. Tim Horton's Donuts were enjoyed by many including one ambitious dog who took advantage of the open box. Both Park cleanup teams appreciated a visit from our City Councillor his team. Have questions on your parks? Reach out to us at info@lowertown-basseville.ca Thanks to all! We Need a Real Clean Energy Strategy | Nous avons besoin d'une stratégie robuste pour avancer l'énergie propre
Dear Mayor Watson, In May 2014, the City of Ottawa promised to prepare and adopt a strategy to “advance energy conservation, energy efficiency and renewable energy generation” in Ottawa. This strategy is a critical component of our ability to fight climate change, since more than half of Ottawa’s greenhouse gas pollution is associated with how we heat, cool and electrify our homes, offices and other buildings. Three years later, the strategy is still focused on studies and planning, with almost no concrete action in sight. We are calling on you to ensure that the City of Ottawa adopts a real clean energy strategy by the end of 2017 – one that includes meaningful policy change recommendations and significant new investments.
