Neighbourhood Toolkit

Crime Prevention Ottawa's Neighbourhood Toolkit is an online resource (a printable version is also available on the website) that provides ideas, information and resources to help Ottawa residents make their neighbourhoods better places to live. The Toolkit encourages residents to get involved in their neighbourhoods and to be accountable and proactive about community safety. Individuals, community associations, Neighbourhood Watch volunteers and many others will find helpful ideas and practical information about building safer neighbourhoods from the ground up. The Toolkit also contains information about specific problems and crimes and how to get help from municipal and community resources in Ottawa. To learn more about the Toolkit, click here.

Market Neighbourhood Watch

Through Neighbourhood Watch, neighbours help to keep their neighbours safe. Neighbourhood Watch is organized with coordinators and block captains to help keep the neighbourhood informed of issues and concerns, such as increased break-ins or drug activity. By staying informed about neighbourhood concerns, Neighbourhood Watch members are able to better protect themselves and to help their neighbours. Neighbourhood Watch members are extra eyes for the police. When Neighbourhood Watch members are aware of issues, they can assist the police and their neighbours by watching for criminal activity and calling the police when they witness anything suspicious. Neighbourhood Watch is about neighbours helping neighbours to keep their neighbourhood safe! For more information visit the Ottawa Police website.

Market Neighbourhood Watch covers the following areas: Guigues, St. Andrew and Bruyere from Sussex to King Edward Avenue, and Cathcart from Sussex to Dalhousie. Contact: market_neighbourhood_watch@hotmail.com.

Crime Reports

The City of Ottawa has a crime mapping tool that provides you with better information as to what is happening in your neighbourhood. You can access the map here.
